More Information

Who can become an affiliated coach?

Coaches at all levels and with any level of experience can become an affiliated/qualified coach with Wrestling Australia. You can view a list of all currently affiliated coaches here

Why should I become an affiliated coach?

Starting in May 2026, we require all affiliated clubs' head coaches to be registered and affiliated with Wrestling Australia. Clubs without qualified/affiliated head coaches will not be listed on the NSW Wrestling website or be recognised as an affiliated member of NSW Wrestling.

Why does NSW Wrestling require affiliated clubs to have a qualified coach?

This is a recommendation from NSW Office of Sport, Sport Integrity Australia, and is common practice in most other sports. From NSW Wrestling's perspective, we are committed to creating a safe and secure environment for the sport. Being a qualified coach ensures that the individuals teaching wrestling in clubs we affiliate with have met minimum bar by having:

  • A police check and Working with Children Check.

  • An understanding of prohibited substances and a commitment to keeping the sport clean.

  • A foundation of basic knowledge of the sport and how to conduct safe practices.

What is the cost to become a qualified coach?

The cost of becoming an affiliated coach includes the Wrestling Australia Level 1 Coaching Course (Wrestling 201) fee, which is often around $250 (Note: Course fees are set by Wrestling Australia and are subject to change. Please check the Wrestling Australia website for the most current pricing.)

This cost does not include any potential fees associated with obtaining a First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check, or National Australian Police Check.

FAQ: Why does Wrestling Australia charge this amount ?
Wrestling Australia does not take any portions of this payment and does not make any profit from offering the coachign courses. This is charged by the platform that is hosting the learning modules and 100% of this fee goes to them.
